Advertising is of course the key reason for your brands online presence but there is a delicate balance to be struck.

Advertise posts are your chance to promote your product to your social media followers. As a business, obviously your top priority is to sell your service or product and so advertising and promotion are an inescapable part of your online presence. It requires restraint however, as the modern consumer is constantly flooded with a sensory overload of ads 24 hours a day on TV, radio, internet, phones, billboards, signs, packaging and so has become tired of it.

On your social media you want to encourage a consistent, loyal and interested fan base who stick around to see where your company goes and what you do. Flooding their feed with even more ads is a good way to lose that user.

With advertising on your social media try treating it as a way of rewarding people for supporting you online. Share with them specials, deals, bargains, discounts codes or something that gives a sense of exclusivity and a sense that following you and engaging with your brand online adds value to their life.

EXAMPLE 1

This is a good example of an advertising post as it keeps it simple, relies on its brand image to do most of the work and focuses its promotion around an idea that it believes will be of importance to its customers (i.e. being eco-friendly). They have set up something new as a draw for business now and have shared their goals to continue working towards sustainability to encourage ongoing brand loyalty.

EXAMPLE 2

This example of an advert post is effective for a number of reasons. It promotes a trendy brand (itself) collaborating with a trendy video game which is going to be great for audience reach. It offers a statistic of 25% complete which gives a sense of urgency or the opportunity for achievement. It gives a clear call to action and a motivation to follow through by offering a prize.
